Chery is giving customers the option of giving their Stockman utes the full Aussie treatment with bull bars, roof racks and canopies built specifically for the model in a partnership with local manufacturer Ironman 4×4.

The rugged accessories have all been engineered to meet original equipment manufacturer standards and have been tested against Australian Design Rules for structural performance, load capacity and durability, and will match Chery’s seven-year warranty.

They include a triple-hoop aluminium APEX bull bar with a 12,000-pound winch cradle, low-profile aluminium roof rack made to reduce wind noise and sporting room for an optional light bar, roller drawers in a range of heights with built-in fridge slides, and a rear-step tow bar rated to the Stockman’s 3.5-tonne towing capacity.

The Raid canopy comes in solid-door or glass construction, features optional central locking, and has options including side storage, dog windows and roof bars. Weighing approximately 70kg when fitted, it can support loads of up to 180kg (dynamic) and 380kg (static).

Other options include the IM2.5 suspension set up, with a 50mm lift at the front and rear and spring options for constant loads of either 200kg or 300kg. Ironman is also planning to offer a GVM upgrade including improvements to the front and rear axle loads.

“No matter how capable the Stockman is, Australian off-roaders still want a bull bar, a canopy and a roof rack. This range is how they get that, backed by a trusted Australian brand,” said Chery Australia chief operating officer Lucas Harris.

Earlier this month, Chery confirmed that the first Stockman models are due to reach buyers from February 1 next year. Customers who reserve one online from October 1 will get a $2000 Bunnings gift card and three years or 45,000km of complimentary scheduled servicing.

While pricing and full specs haven’t been released for the Stockman, we know it will break new ground for utes with its diesel plug-in hybrid set-up, which features a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder engine and makes a total of 350kW and 800Nm.

Chery claims up to 100km of electric-only driving range on the lenient NEDC test cycle, and the Stockman also has three differential locks, all-terrain tyres, crawl control and a tight-turn assist function to bolster its off-road credentials.
