It’s a sad, but very true, fact that not everything can be a success.

Take cars for example. Sometimes no matter how hard a company tries, its new model will flop.

Or worse, be so hideously styled, it will cause people to vomit.

Such cars were on display at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.

But rather than cover our eyes and sprint in the opposite direction, we thought we’d share this collection of the weird and wacky.

Not every car here is a clanger, but as you’ll see, some will put you off your dinner.

So here they are – the Dr. Strangewheels of Geneva.

Yes the Geneva Motor Show is about cars.

But there were plenty of other models that caught our eye too.

Motor shows are renowned for their promo girls and trust us, Geneva was no exception.

So to celebrate this display of beauty, we bring you this – the Girls of Geneva.

You’re welcome.

Million dollar supercars, Formula 1 cars, priceless historics and gobsmacking concepts – all of these were on display over the weekend at the Top Gear Festival at Sydney Motorsport park.

But if by some cruel twist of fate you weren’t there sniffing the petrol-soaked air yourself, never fear.

Wheels has compiled the best shots from across the weekend. Brace yourself for supercar exotica, tyre shredding action and plenty of Top Gear silliness.

No you don’t need glasses.

What you’re looking at really is a Lamborghini Aventator limousine.

UK-based luxury-hire-car firm Cars For Stars is designing the stretched Lambo, which will hit the roads soon.

The limo will feature creature comforts such as heated seats, plasma screens, iPod docks, surround sound, champagne bars and two sets of Lambo’s iconic ‘scissor doors’.

The limousine will also retain the Aventator’s massive 6.5-litre, 515kW V12 engine.

But say goodbye to the Aventador’s sticky handling and mind-bending performance.

Car purists will lament the drop in performance, but Cars For Stars insists the limo will remain ‘loyal to the original iconic Aventador design’.

Apparently that means using ‘only the finest materials’ in its construction.

The dust has barely settled in Geneva, but the motoring world is already descending on New York.

The 2013 New York Motor Show kicks off this week and in typical American style, it’s going to be BIG.

Over 1000 cars will be on display, with some of the world’s biggest manufacturers unveiling new, ground breaking designs.

As you’d except, much of it is American, but European heavyweights Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar and Range Rover will also have a big presence.

But rather than wait until the show begins, we thought we’d give you a sneak peak with this – our comprehensive New York Motor Show preview.

Citing declining support from manufacturers and plummeting attendance figures, organisers have been forced to cancel the 2013 Australian International Motor Show, which was due to open in Melbourne in June.

In a statement, Russ Tyrie, event director of the Australian International Motor Show, said, “We have made the decision to not proceed with this year’s Show based on a consensus view of the Automotive Industry to focus limited marketing budgets in 2013 on firm specific activities rather than an industry based Motor Show. In not proceeding with the Show in 2013, Australia is following a global trend that has been apparent for several years, where cities do not always have a Motor Show. This trend is evident in the recent suspension of Motor Shows in London, Zagreb and Amsterdam”.

It can cost manufacturers up to $2million to build and operate a motor show stand for 10 days and many have been choosing not to attend.

To help eliminate some of these costs, the Australian International Motor Show alternates between Melbourne and Sydney in a deal that was set up in 2009.

However, brands are still finding it too expensive and at last year’s Sydney show, Audi, BMW and Ferrari stayed away.

Attendance from the public has also dropped away over the last 15 years. The Sydney show peaked in 1998 with over 250,000 visitors, but this figure has nearly halved to the 135,000 that attended in 2012. Melbourne has suffered a similar decline in attendance from a peak of 250,000 in 2004 down to 155,000 in 2011.

The Sydney show is next due to run in 2014.

Yeehaa!

The 2013 New York Motor Show has started and as you’d expect, it’s big.

Over 1000 cars are on display and happily, we’ve already seen a few surprises.

Chevrolet got journalists’ pulses racing by reviving its legendary Z28 Camaro – a track-focused car that sent our men on the ground into fits of joy.

Mercedes-Benz also stole the limelight with the world-premiere of its CLA45 AMG, while Jeep and Subaru also have big reveals planned.

But rather than simply tell you what’s happening on the ground, our journalists have been busy pushing punters out of the way to take photos.

So sit back and enjoy this gallery of highlights from day one in New York.

THE BIG APPLE. Sweet? To the core. Important as a motor show? Well, let’s just say it’s more like that succulent peach in the fruit bowl of international car expos.

Except, 2013 has seen more than its fair share of global premieres – from a couple of pretty Kias (Soul II and Koup II) to the Audi A3 Sedan – even if it was only virtually via satellite link!

But these hardly dazzled us, so start spreading the news, coz here are our NY Top 10.
