It’s the Debbie Does Dallas of motorsport films, and now, Peugeot’s iconic Climb Dance has been remastered in high-definition.

Yep, car and motorsport fans can now watch Ari Vatanen and Peugeot’s 415 T16 Grand Raid belt up the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in crystal clear HD.

We have a sneaking suspicion the release of this remastered film has something to do with Peugeot’s return to Pikes Peak this year, but really, who cares?

Sit back, switch it into HD and break out the tissues.

It really is that good.

Nissan and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have confirmed their GT Academy competition, that helps gamers become real racing drivers, will return for a fifth season.

Since 2008, the ‘virtual-to-reality’ competition has attracted over two million entries, with gamers and motor sport fans battling it out on the race driving game Gran Turismo for the chance to become real Nissan racing drivers.

The competition runs in the USA, Europe, the Middle East and South Africa, and Nissan’s Director of Global Motorsport, Darren Cox says, “The selection process and driver development program are now so robust that we’re turning out some genuinely fast racing drivers.”

Six former winners are now competing with Nisan’s competition arm, NISMO, in top-level motor sport. In fact, Lucas Ordonez (2008 winner) and Jann Mardenborough (2011 winner) are racing at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours for Nissan.

The latest evolution of the video driving game widely regarded as the best in the business, Gran Turismo, has been confirmed for launch at the Electronic Games Expo in Los Angeles this June.

Developer, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. recently celebrated 15 years of the 70-million-selling franchise, and the game’s creator, Kazunori Yamauchi, says Gran Turismo 6 for PlayStation 3 will bring new levels of authenticity to what Sony refers to as ‘the Real Driving Simulator.’

The upgraded ‘GT6’ features news tracks (including the UK’s famous Silverstone Circuit) and cars (set to total 1200 at launch), as well as a revised user interface, and expanded connectivity with other devices such as smart phones and tablets.

Three-time Formula One world champion, Sebastian Vettel, has jumped behind the wheel of an outrageous, F1-inspired version of Renault’s Twizy, the French maker’s quirky, new electric city vehicle.

Earlier this year, Renault Sport F1, engine supplier to the Red Bull (Vettel’s team), Lotus, Williams and Caterham grand prix teams, produced theTwizy Renault Sport F1.

Sitting on slick racing tyres, the tiny single-seater is fitted with F1-inspired aero aids including a front splitter, side-pods, rear wing and diffuser.

After a few ‘laps’ around Renault’s Ile Seguin factory in Boulogne-Billancourt near Paris, Vettel said, “I particularly enjoyed driving theTwizy Renault Sport F1, a really fun machine.”

Most of us love our dream cars. Wash them tenderly and polish out their imperfections.

Not smash them to bits with sledgehammers.

But that’s exactly what a Chinese Maserati owner has done to his own $428,000 Quattroporte.

The act was a dramatic stand against bad customer service, with the Chinese man – who is only known by his surname Wang – hiring two other men to attack his car in front of a crowded motor show yesterday.

Wang reportedly took his Maserati, which he purchased in 2011, to a dealership in Qingdao, but became incensed when he discovered second-hand parts had been fitted to his car.

A long and bitter legal dispute with the dealership is said to have proceeded the protest, which Wang organised by contacting Chinese media and spreading the word through social media.

After months of speculation they’re here – official images of Australia’s most powerful car: the 430kW HSV GTS.

Images and details of the entire HSV ‘Gen-F’ range have just been released – click through the gallery for every model, including images shot exclusively for Wheels – but it’s the supercharged GTS that’s the new hero car.

Boasting the most powerful engine ever fitted to a locally built car, the GTS is aiming to break Germany’s performance-sedan dominance.

Forget the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG or even Porsche’s Panamera Turbo S – the GTS is the new kilowatt king.

Churning out 430kW/740Nm from its blown LSA V8, HSV has re-engineered the Gen-F GTS from the wheel nuts up to handle the extra grunt.

That entails not just a completely new rear suspension set-up, but also all-new steering, electrical architecture and brand new interiors.

Gen-F GTS also gets bigger brakes (390mm up front and 372mm at the rear) and ‘an extensive range of technological advancements’ including Bi-Modal Air intake, Magnetic Ride Control and Torque Vectoring.

Maloo, Clubsport, Senator, Grange

Like the GTS, the rest of the Gen-F range has been completely re-engineered from head to toe.

Unlike the GTS, though, the naturally aspirated Gen-F range carries over the 6.2-litre LS3 drivetrain from the outgoing E-series 3 – with one notable change.

The top LS3 engine now produces 340kW/570Nm and comes standard on the Senator and Grange, but is an option as part of an ‘SV enhanced’ package for Maloo R8, Clubsport R8 and Clubsport Tourer R8.

Pricing

HSV is yet to release official prices, but we can tell you that despite all the new equipment and technology, the Gen-F range will cost roughly the same as the E-series 3. Here’s what you can expect to pay:

Maloo – $59,000 Clubsport R8 – $68,000 Tourer R8 – $69,000 Maloo R8 SV – $71,000 Clubsport R8 SV – $74,000 Tourer R8 SV – $75,000 Senator Signature – $84,000 Grange – $88,000 GTS – $95,000

Well this is ironic.

Just days after newspapers ran headlines proclaiming “The flying car is FINALLY here!”, this headline popped into the Wheels’ inbox.

“Flying car crashes!”

Luckily, it wasn’t the same flying car, but still, it gave us all a good chuckle.

But seriously, these headlines beg the question: how safe are flying cars?

Are we really ready to join The Jetsons or should we keep our tyres firmly on the ground?

Click through the gallery to learn about the car that crashed, and the flying car of the future.

He might be famous for designing clothes, but fashion heavyweight Ralph Lauren is a car tragic.

The proud owner of one of the world’s greatest, and most expensive, car collections, 73-year-old Lauren added to his extensive garage this week by taking delivery of this – a $700,000 RUF CTR-3.

So while Lauren takes the time to run his new charge in, we thought it the perfect opportunity to sneak into his garage and take a look around.
