MG is tipped to reveal a SUV rival for the Nissan Duke at the Shanghai Motor Show later this month.
Images of the new concept have been leaked online, with the car known as the MG CS Concept.
Reports out of China suggest the CS will be a refined, more modern version of the Icon SUV concept MG revealed last year.
Details remain scarce, but early talk suggests the CS will be based on the MG5’s platform and could use a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol to produce around 100kW.

Remember when Lamborghini was completely nuts? Back in the days when it wasn’t owned by Audi?
Well the last of the ‘true’ Lambos is going under the hammer, with pundits tipping it could fetch as much as $2.1 million.
It’s called the Pregunta, and despite sounding like its pregnant (Pregunta actually means ‘question’ in Spanish), it’s extremely rare.
Produced as a one-off concept car in 1998, the Pregunta was first shown at the ’98 Paris Motor show.
Based loosely on the iconic Diablo, the Pregunta was lighter and simpler than any Lambo before it, boasting a 393kW V12 and a top speed of 333km/h.
Despite being a concept, it’s a fully functioning car with dynamic air intakes, a rear-view camera (cutting edge in 1998), GPS, digital dash and ‘combat jet-derived cockpit ergonomics’.
Nice.
Love cars so much you just can’t stand to be away from them? Not even inside your own house?

Just weeks after being stripped of its world’s fastest production car title, Bugatti has hit back by revealing this – the world’s fastest convertible.
It’s called the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse WRC and officially clocked 408.84km/h earlier this week in the hands of Chinese driver Anthony Liu.
Like the Veyron Super Sport, the Vitesse WRC uses an 8.0-litre W16 engine, but has been tweaked to produce 883kW/1500Nm.
To save occupants from losing their toupees at 400km/h, the Vitesse features a specially engineered ‘roof spoiler’ and windbreak to reduce buffeting in the cabin.
Bugatti will unveil the Vitesse at the Shanghai Motor Show later this month.
Just eight WRC – world record car – editions will be built.
The SSC Ultimate Aero is once again, officially, the fastest car in the world.
The American-built supercar, which hit 412.22km/h on a public highway in Washington in 2007, inherited the title after the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport was stripped of its title last week.
The Bugatti, which had held the title with a speed of 430.98km/h, was found to have had its speed limiter deactivated, thereby breaking the rules.
But while Shelby SuperCars (SSC) is happy to inherit the title, the brand is planning to go even faster with its new model – the Tuatara.
“This wasn’t how we planned to reclaim the record. But it will do until the Tuatara takes a run at several records that exist out there. Although, it was still a nice surprise,” said SSC Founder Jerod Shelby.
“After we held the record for three years, I was happy to hand over the crown to Bugatti back in 2010. I think it’s good for the supercar industry to have competition. It keeps the enthusiast hungry.
“We’ve also always felt that it would be better to break someone else’s record next time, instead of just re-breaking our own record.”
The Tuatara, which is tipped to cost well over $1.5 million, has a projected top speed of 444km/h.
A mid-engined 4.2-litre V8 produces 1007kW and 1412Nm, yet the car retains creature comforts such as air condition, power windows and a 10 speaking premium audio system.
Not known for doing things by half, authorities in Dubai have equipped the local constabulary with what is possibly the world’s most exotic highway pursuit car.
The Dubai police force has added a Lamborghini Aventador to its fleet, as well as a smattering of high-powered Chevrolet Camaros.
Powered by a 515kW V12 engine, the Italian supercar is capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in 2.9sec, and blasting on to a top-speed of 350km/h.

Sebastian Vettel has fired a personal shot at Mark Webber, saying the Australian “didn’t deserve” to win the Malaysian Grand Prix and he’d happily ignore team orders again in the future.
Far from apologising for ignoring team instructions and passing Webber to take the win in Malaysia three weeks ago, Vettel told the media in China he’s felt let down by the Australian in the past.
“I think being completely honest, I never had support from his side,” said Vettel. “Had I understood the message and had I thought about it, reflected on it, think what the team wanted to do, to leave Mark in first place and me finishing second, I think I would have thought about it and I probably would have done the same thing.
“He didn’t deserve it.”
Vettel reiterated he apologised to the team for disobeying their instructions, but said he felt no remorse for passing Webber.
“I have a lot of support from the team and the team has supported both of us the same way,” he said. “But in terms of relationship to Mark, I respect him a lot as a racing driver, but I think there was more than on occasion in the past where he could have helped the team and he didn’t.”
When pressed by the media, Vettel even admitted his pass in Malaysia could be viewed as an act of revenge.
“You could say indirectly so,” said Vettel.
Further proving Vettel’s power within the Red Bull team, Vettel laughed off suggestions he should be sanctioned for his insolence and weakening the position of team principal Christian Horner.
“Sanction as in punishment?” he laughed. “Maybe it is a little bit of a dreamland that you all live in, but what do you expect to happen? Make a suggestion!”
Despite Vettel’s sensation comments, Webber insists it’s time to move on and confirmed he would continue racing until the end of 2013.
“Definitely I am keen to finish the season,” he said. “A lot of people were questioning it, but it was not something on my mind.
“I am keen to race this year, and put together a strong campaign. Year by year, I come to the summer and I will speak to Dietrich [Mateschitz] and we will go from there.
“I have never made decisions in my career at this point of the season and I don’t see why I should make any decisions now about the future.”
BMW has revealed its sleek new X4 concept ahead of its world premiere at the Shanghai Motor Show later this month.
The German car manufacturer hails it “The next chapter in the Sports Activity Coupe story.”
The SUV/Coupe crossover, which sits just below the X6, is being touted the “the future of the BMW X family.”
Due for production in 2014, the X4 will be built alongside the X5, X6 and X3 at BMW’s American plant, and is expected to share engines with the X3 range.
