The first of three 2022 McLaren Daniel Ricciardo Edition 720S from MSO supercars has arrived in Australia, and one of its first stops was at Albert Park – home to the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Offered solely to the Australian market, the 720S was created by McLaren Special Operations (MSO) to celebrate Aussie F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo's first victory with the McLaren team.

As an homage to Ricciardo’s race number, just three of the special 720S models will be built by MSO, finished in papaya spark orange and Burton blue – the very same colours used on the McLaren F1 race car.

“We’re delighted to see the first of this exclusive series arrive in Australia, as at home on the tarmac around Albert Park as its namesake Daniel Ricciardo,” George Biggs, Commercial Executive Director for McLaren Automotive said at the car’s arrival.

“Complete with the Australian flag adorning the front haunches, this special edition model is the perfect celebration of our Perth-born racer – we’re excited to see it out on Australian roads.”

Announced in September, the Ricciardo Edition is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, with 530kW and 770Nm sending the car to 100km/h from a standstill in just 2.9 seconds.

While McLaren has not revealed pricing for the special edition, it’s expected the model will ask a premium over the base price of the 720S at $509,000 before on-road costs.
