  • 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQA 350 now available
  • Priced from $96,900 plus on-roads
  • Joins the existing single-motor EQA 250 variant

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQA 350 electric SUV is arriving in Australian showrooms, following several delays.

It is priced from $96,900 before on-road costs, pushing the drive-away price north of $100,000.

As such, the dual-motor, all-wheel drive EQA 350 commands a significant $18,390 premium over the existing single-motor, front-wheel-drive EQA 250.

That entry-level variant is priced from $78,513 before on-road costs, following a recent price rise.

In addition, it places the EQA 350 as the second-most-expensive variant in Mercedes-Benz’s small SUV range, behind the $110,000 AMG GLA 45 S.

For buyers seeking more, the EQA 350 features the same 66.5kWh battery pack as the EQA 250, but with two electric motors – one at the front axle and one at the rear.

This combination offers a hotter 215kW and 520Nm, with a claimed 0-100km/h time of six seconds flat.

That time falls short of the petrol-powered Mercedes-AMG GLA 35’s 5.2-second run, but the sensation of electric acceleration should leave most buyers satisfied.

As per other performance-oriented electric vehicles, the EQA 350 4Matic has a shorter driving range than the EQA 250, at 400 kilometres – down 26km.

The Mercedes-Benz EQA 350 is arriving in Australia at a similar time to the AMG EQS 53 and seven-seat EQB, and will be followed by the eVito, EQV, EQE, non-AMG EQS, EQS SUV and EQE SUV in the coming months.

Powertrains, charging and driving range

Mercedes-Benz offers the EQA with two powertrains in Australia.

The entry-level EQA 250 guise features a single electric motor producing 140kW of power and 375Nm of torque, exclusively sending power to the front wheels.

It has a 66.5kWh battery pack, with a WLTP-rated 426-kilometre driving range.

According to the brand, the EQA 250 will complete the 0-100km/h sprint in 8.9 seconds.

Stepping up to the dual-motor, all-wheel drive EQA 350 brings 215kW and 520Nm, with a 400-kilometre range – down 26km – and a claimed six-second 0-100km/h time.

With the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, power demand between the front and rear is controlled 100 times per second.

There are several charging options for the EQA, including an onboard charger that allows up to 11kW with an alternating current (AC).

It also supports direct current (DC) charging of up to 100kW, with the 10 to 80 per cent fast charge claimed to take approximately 30 minutes.

Nine airbags (dual front, side head, side thorax, curtain and driver’s knee) are fitted across the range.

Dimensions

The Mercedes-Benz EQA has a wheelbase of 2729 millimetres, and is 4463mm long, 1834mm wide and 1620mm high.

This makes it 53mm longer and 9mm taller than the petrol GLA, due to the placement of the batteries underneath the vehicle.

The small SUV has a claimed 340-litre boot capacity, expanding to 1320L with the second-row folded.

Warranty and servicing

As per the wider Mercedes-Benz range, the EQA electric SUV is covered by the brand's five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, along with a complimentary roadside assistance program during the vehicle’s warranty period. The program can be extended for $149.60 per year.

The battery pack is covered by a separate 10-year, 250,000-kilometre warranty.

Service pricing can be pre-purchased, consisting of three-, four- or five-year packages with 12-month/25,000km intervals.
