A new flagship 2022 Subaru WRX 22B has been created as an homage to the original Impreza-based 22B of the late 1990s.
Digital artist Rain Prisk made the rendering of the WRX coupe based on the recently-unveiled performance sedan from Subaru, called the ‘2022B’.
Like the original 22B, the modern version has two doors and bolstered guards, a large rear wing, and the iconic pink STI badge in the front grille.
However, unlike the new WRX, Prisk has adopted traditional wheel arches, rather than the squared versions bordered with black plastic.

To finish off the look, the 2022B sits on a set of dished gold mesh alloy wheels clad in semi-slick tyres.
While the original 22B was powered by a 2.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine, the upcoming 2022 Subaru WRX uses a 2.4-litre turbo-four, producing 202kW and 350Nm.
There’s no sign of Subaru planning a two-door WRX coupe, however Australia is getting a long-roof WRX Sportswagon based on the Japanese-market Levorg.
