2023 Cupra Formentor VZx Matrix pricing: Limited-edition SUV arrives

The 2023 Cupra Formentor medium SUV is now fitted with adaptive LED headlights – but it’ll be limited to "some 100 examples".

Cupra Australia has announced the limited-run Formentor VZx Matrix Edition will go on sale today, priced from $65,490 before on-road costs – $1500 more than the flagship VZx it's based on.

As standard, the Formentor VZx Matrix features adaptive LED headlights, which can shut down individual LEDs when traffic or obstacles are detected – instead of static LED headlights fitted to other Cupra vehicles in Australia.

It also sports black Nappa leather upholstery, replacing petrol blue, and unique 19-inch alloy wheels with a black and copper design.

The latest addition to the Cupra Formentor lineup isn’t the first limited edition, with a deep red-only VZx Rojo Edition launched in March.

Cupra said the Formentor VZx Rojo Edition is “near-sold-out”, with 30 units offered in Australia.

Unlike the VZx Rojo Edition, the VZx Matrix Edition is offered with the standard VZx colour palette – with metallic, premium metallic or matte paint – and an optional panoramic sunroof.

“We see the instant response to these editions, and the VZx in general, as a real endorsement of Cupra’s pricing and positioning,” said Cupra Australia head of product and planning, Jeff Shafer.

As announced, the Formentor VZx is Cupra’s top-selling vehicle in Australia.

The 2023 Cupra Formentor VZx Matrix Edition is available to order today, with local deliveries due to commence soon.
