Just like death and taxes, people are going to tinker on performance cars. And right on cue for BMW’s new M2, Manhart Performance has gone ballistic on the coupe.

Using its 30th birthday as an excuse, the German-tuner cooked up a new carbon aero package and power upgrade that sees outputs tower over a Ferrari California T's.

Manhart BMW M2 rearIt’s called the pressie ‘MH2 630’, with the last number denoting how many horses its 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine’s made obsolete.

Hold on, that’s 463kW from, wait, two turbochargers? To hit its lofty power goals, Manhart Performance stole the M4’s inline-six and snuck it into the M2’s nose.

Manhart BMW M2 frontFinding the extra 191kW required new turbos, a bigger intercooler, and a completely new exhaust system. Meanwhile sports catalytic-converter plugged downstream increase flow. It’s been matched to a seven speed dual-clutch gearbox, but it’s not clear if it’s copped new hardware to handle the grunt.

Manhart unleash 485kW BMW M2 wheelWith torque swollen to 700Nm, Manhart’s boosted the MH2’s grip levels to keep the rear tyres from becoming ghosts. So rubber’s been widened by 20mm at the front, and 30mm at the rear, while being upgraded to Michelin’s Pilot Sport Cup 2s.

But it’s the brakes we’re more concerned for. You’re gonna need good ones to haul up all that stonk. Thankfully, huge carbon jobbies have been stuffed under the 630’s guards, with 380mm/370mm sized discs matching dinner plates for size.

Manhart BMW M2 interiorBeing self-claimed gurus in lightweight tech, there’s carbon fibre everywhere. It used for the hood, the splitter, rear spoiler, and side wings, and rear diffuser. While on the inside alcantara’s used as the material of choice.
