Renault has announced Australian pricing and specifications for the updated Megane E-Tech electric small SUV, which will return to local showrooms in the first half of next year following a brief hiatus. Orders are now open, with buyers also receiving a free 7kW EV charger.

Priced from $55,990 plus on-road costs, the updated Megane E-Tech will be offered exclusively in the flagship Esprit Alpine specification, and the update has brought sportier styling, additional standard equipment and improved electric driving range thanks to a larger battery.

The biggest change is beneath the skin, where a new 67kWh LFP battery replaces the previous model’s 60kWh NMC unit. That increases the Megane’s claimed WLTP driving range from 454km to 480km, while faster charging capabilities should also make for more convenience as its maximum DC fast-charging capacity has increased from 130kW to 165kW for a claimed 15-80 per cent recharge time of 24 minutes.

AC charging capacity has also increased from 7.4kW to 11kW, while vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality has also been added, allowing owners to power external devices using the car’s battery. Grunt continues to come from a front-mounted electric motor producing 160kW and 300Nm, enabling a claimed 0-100km/h time of 7.6 seconds.

Visually, the updated Megane E-Tech gains redesigned LED headlights and daytime running lights, a revised front bumper, new tailights and new 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, there’s a new 12-inch infotainment touchscreen featuring Google services like Google Maps, Google Assistant and access to the Google Play Store, alongside a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Other standard equipment includes nine-speaker Harman Kardon audio, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging and electrically adjustable sports seats with a memory and massage function for the driver.

“Earlier this year we announced Renault Australia was in the middle of revitalising its model lineup and the new Renault Megane E-Tech Esprit Alpine is a part of that,” said Renault Australia General Manager Glen Sealey. “We are opening the order books early so we can allocate cars fairly across the dealer network to minimise waiting times and get people into their cars sooner.”

Australian order books open for the Renault Megane E-Tech open today October 28, ahead of showroom arrivals in the first half of 2027.
