Repco and Australian entertainment group ShowTime have revealed a heavily modified Porsche 911 at Mount Panorama ahead of the 2026 Repco Bathurst 1000, featuring a front-mounted twin-turbocharged V8 engine making more than 895kW – or 1200 horses – of power.

Known as the ShowTime Repco-Mod 933, the one-off creation is based on a 996 Porsche 911 but features significant structural, mechanical and cosmetic modifications. Developed by ShowTime’s Gary Reid and his team, the project combines the familiar silhouette of Porsche’s iconic sports car with an entirely different drivetrain layout, custom bodywork and motorsport-derived components.

The project began with a worn Porsche 996 bodyshell and a collection of components, before undergoing more than 2000 hours of metal fabrication. The modifications included the construction of new firewalls, a floor, transmission tunnel and roll cage to accommodate the new engine placement and upgraded drivetrain.

Externally, the Repco-Mod 933 introduces a handmade aluminium wide-body kit, carbon fibre roof, bonnet and doors, and rear wing. A shark fin connects the roofline to rear aerodynamic elements, while newer Porsche headlights and tail lights have been installed. The exterior is finished in ‘Sandy Taupe’, a colour sourced from the Toyota LandCruiser range, with red, black and blue highlights applied to components like the wheels, brakes, turbo intakes and roll cage.

The most significant mechanical change is the installation of a front-mounted General Motors LSX V8 engine. Equipped with two turbochargers, the V8 produces more than 895kW of power. Power is transferred to the rear wheels through an eight-speed gearbox, while it also features custom race suspension and a cooling system behind the passenger compartment. Rotiform 18-inch wheels with Dunlop tyres also feature.

Inside, the cabin features a pair of carbon fibre Recaro seats upholstered in Porsche’s traditional ‘Pepita’ fabric. A sequential gear selector and hydraulic rear handbrake are positioned within easy reach of the driver, complemented by a custom pedal box.

Unveiled as part of Repco’s activities surrounding the Bathurst 1000, the ShowTime Repco-Mod 933 has been developed for actual use rather than simply as a display vehicle. It will soon enter ShowTime’s stunt fleet, with appearances already scheduled at several automotive events.
