Tesla Australia has announced a series of upgrades for its Model 3 medium sedan and Model Y medium SUV for the 2027 model year. There’s a range of changes for both, adding new capability, new finishes and for some models, extra performance and range while also improving the value equation.
The biggest change to the Model Y is that the top-spec Performance is now being produced at the same Shanghai factory as other Model Y variants, instead of being manufactured in Berlin. That has led to its price falling from $89,400 to $84,900 plus on-road costs. However, that means paints are now a cost option, and there are also new ‘Glacier Blue’ paint and ‘Zen Grey’ interior choices.

The Model Y Premium Long Range All-Wheel drive also now accelerates to 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds, with the Model Y L Premium All-Wheel Drive getting through the sprint in 4.5 seconds, which are improvements of 0.5 and 0.3 seconds respectively.
As for the Model 3, aside from the new entry-level Rear-Wheel Drive model, it now features a larger 16-inch touchscreen up from 15.4-inches, a dark headliner and the same ‘Zen Grey’ interior option as the Model Y. The Model 3 is also available with new 19-inch ‘Dark Nova’ alloy wheels, while the top-spec Model 3 Performance has seen a range increase from 571km to 600km on the WLTP cycle.
Finally, both the Model 3 and Model Y are now available with Power Share, which is Tesla’s bidirectional charging technology that lets your electric vehicle’s high-voltage battery store, share, and export electricity to run external appliances, back up your house, or feed energy back into the grid.

Power Share requires the $145 Tesla Outlet Adapter, which is available from the Tesla Shop and it cannot be retrofitted to vehicles earlier than MY27. The updated Tesla Model 3 and Model Y ranges are available to order now ahead of deliveries commencing from later this month.
MY27 Tesla Model 3 and Model Y pricing (excluding on-road costs):
- Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive: $45,900
- Model 3 Premium Rear-Wheel Drive: $54,900
- Model 3 Premium Long-Range All-Wheel Drive: $61,900
- Model 3 Performance All-Wheel Drive: $80,900
- Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive: $58,900
- Model Y Premium Long-Range All-Wheel Drive: $68,900
