2023 Amarok servicing costs confirmed: VW matches Ford Ranger

Volkswagen has revealed capped price servicing costs for the new-generation Amarok, with the fresh dual-cab set to be one of Australia’s cheapest utes to maintain.

The new Amarok will be covered by a five-year capped price servicing scheme that limits the cost of each visit to the dealer to between $329 and $414.

That puts the total cost over five years to $1800. The breakdown of each service is in the table below.

The pricing puts the new-gen Amarok on par with the Ford Ranger for servicing costs – no surprise, given the pair were co-developed and share a platform and powertrains.

Ford limits the price of each of the first four visits to $329 but that excludes the cost of brake fluid and a replacement air-conditioning filter which VW has factored into its pricing. That’s why the Amarok’s third service is priced slightly higher at $414.

Service intervals for the Amarok are every 12 months or 15,000km which is now industry standard. Interestingly those intervals are a slight step backward for Amarok.

MY21 and onwards versions of the first-gen Amarok required a visit to the dealer every 12 months or 20,000km.

The new Amarok’s service intervals are still superior to a Toyota Hilux, however. A diesel Hilux requires a service every six months/10,000km meaning it’ll cost you $1740 over the first three years of ownership. That compares to $1072 for the Amarok and Ranger, which is a saving of $668.
