Lexus Australia has announced local pricing and specifications for the new eighth-generation ES medium sedan, which is available in both hybrid and fully electric forms for the first time. Boasting new-generation Lexus technologies, an overhauled design inside and out, and the option of a battery-electric (BEV) powertrain for the first time, the all-new ES “moves the luxury sedan forward into the next generation”, according to its maker.
Pricing for the new Lexus ES starts at $75,000 plus on-road costs for the entry-level hybrid ES 300h hybrid, while the entry-level electric ES 350e is priced just $2000 higher at $77,000 +ORC. While that represents an almost-$10,000 jump compared to the entry-level hybrid version of the previous ES, the new model is larger, sleeker, better equipped and more technologically advanced than before.
Sitting on the same ‘GA-K’ platform as before, the new Lexus ES is larger than before. Measuring 5145mm long, 1920mm wide, up to 1560mm tall and riding on a 2950mm long wheelbase, the new ES is 170mm longer, 55mm wider, 115mm taller and 80mm longer between the wheels than the previous model. The boot measures 493 litres in the hybrid and 517 litres for electric variants.

Three drivetrains will be offered in the 2026 Lexus ES range: A familiar 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol hybrid that’s also used in other Toyota products such as the new RAV4 medium SUV, a single-motor electric drivetrain with a 74.7kWh battery and then a dual-motor version of that.
For performance, the hybrid system is rated at 144kW combined, just 4.5L/100km for combined fuel consumption and 103g/km for CO2. The ES 350e makes 167kW of power, with the ES 500e adding an extra motor on the rear axle for 252kW in total. The added grunt makes the ES 500e quick, with a claimed 0-100km/h time of just 5.5 seconds compared to 8.0 seconds for the ES 350e and 7.7 seconds for the ES 300h.
As for range, the ES 350e is capable of a WLTP-rated range of 510km, with the more powerful and heavier ES 500e reducing that to 465km. The electric ES models can be DC fast charged at up to 150kW for a claimed 10-80 per cent charge time of as little as around 30 minutes. The claimed energy consumption for electric ES variants is 16.4kWh/100km for the 350e and 17.9kWh/100km for the 500e.
