Lexus Australia has confirmed that its new TZ large electric SUV will launch in locally in 2027, expanding its lineup with its first three-row electric SUV. First revealed internationally in May, the new model will make its Australian public debut at the 2026 Melbourne Cup Carnival, where it will be displayed alongside the limited-edition RZ 600e F Sport Performance at the Lexus pavilion in Flemington’s Birdcage Enclosure.

Lexus Australia Chief Executive Jack Hobbs said the two new models demonstrate the brand’s ambitions as it expands its electric vehicle portfolio down under.

“At Lexus, innovation is never pursued for its own sake. Every new model must deepen the connection between driver, passengers, and the road ahead,” Hobbs said. “The all-new TZ and RZ 600e F Sport Performance showcase the duality of Lexus electrification. One expands luxury through space and versatility; the other pushes the boundaries of thrilling performance.”

The TZ is based on the new electric Toyota Highlander – itself not yet confirmed for Australia – and will sit above the existing RZ in the Lexus range, competing with other large electric SUVs such as the Hyundai Ioniq 9, Kia EV9 and Cadillac Vistiq.

It measures 5100mm long, 1990mm wide and 1705mm tall with a 3050mm wheelbase, and is similar in size to the Lexus LX. Lexus says the three-row cabin is designed around a ‘driving lounge’ concept, with available equipment including power-folding second- and third-row seats, powered ottomans, a panoramic glass roof and a 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system.

Internationally, the TZ offers a 95.82kWh battery delivering up to 530km of WLTP-rated driving range, while a smaller 76.96kWh battery is also available in selected markets. DC fast charging at up to 150kW allows a 10 to 80 per cent recharge in approximately 35 minutes. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain produces 300kW, enabling a claimed 0-100km/h sprint in 5.4 seconds.

Joining the TZ at Flemington will be the RZ 600e F Sport Performance, which features revised aerodynamics, lowered suspension and unique 21-inch wheels. Priced from $135,000 plus on-road costs, just nine examples are destined for Australia from late 2026.

Australian pricing and specifications for the new Lexus TZ will be announced closer to its 2027 launch.
