BMW Australia is recalling its X3, X4 and 5 Series models due to a risk of the engines failing.
In total, 107 examples of vehicles made between 2016 and 2020 are said to be affected.

According to the Department for Infrastructure which issued the notice, a software update problem may lead to an engine failure whilst driving, increasing the risk of a crash, and a red ‘check control’ or ‘drive faulty’ message may also appear.
A list of VINs is available here.
Owners of affected vehicles are advised to contact their local BMW dealer to schedule an appointment to have the work carried out, free of charge.
BMW can be contacted about the issue on 1800 243 675 or via email [email protected]
