- Total of 245 units affected
- BMW is currently contacting affected customers
The BMW iX has been recalled less than a year after it landed in Australia.
Affecting a total of 245 units, the BMW iX arrived locally late last year as the brand’s flagship electric vehicle, although the SUV’s recall currently covers every example in Australia.
According to the recall notice, a software issue with the car’s airbag control unit, the warning lamp and message might not illuminate on the dash, potentially meaning occupants won’t know if there is a genuine fault.

The local arm of the German manufacturer says it is currently contacting owners of the 245 vehicles to have the problem rectified, free of charge.
BMW says owners can contact the Recall Hotline on 1800 243 675 or their preferred BMW dealer.
