Volkswagen will provide a glimpse at its next all-electric vehicle on January 4.
The mystery vehicle will debut in camouflage at next week’s 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It is expected to be the production version of the ID.7 electric sedan that was previewed by the ID.Aero concept in June.
It will be followed by an “experience [of] the next step in Volkswagen’s electrification journey” on January 6.

As the brand’s first global electric sedan, the ID.7 will be sold in China, Europe and the United States – and joined by a Euro-centric wagon variant, possibly badged ID.7 Tourer.
However, it could retain the ID.Aero badge – or potentially ID.6 Aero, as reported by Wheels earlier this year.
Under the skin, the ID.Aero concept is underpinned by Volkswagen’s MEB platform, with a 77kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It has a claimed WLTP-rated driving range of up to 620 kilometres and a low drag coefficient of 0.23.
It will act as an electric replacement for the Passat sedan, with the internal-combustion nameplate going wagon-only for its next generation.

Volkswagen says the electric sedan will measure five metres long, making it larger than the current Passat and Arteon.
As reported, the ID.Aero concept has similarities to the 2019 ID. Space Vizzion concept, with a full-width light bar, a sculpted front bumper, LED tail-lights spanning across the rear, and a thick window line.
The 2024 Volkswagen ID.7 is scheduled to launch in China in the second half of 2023, while production of the global model is expected to commence in Emden, Germany, in late 2023.
