The facelifted version of the XPeng G6 electric medium SUV is now on sale in Australia after its maker switched to factory distribution locally. Priced from $51,800 plus on-road costs, the entry point to the G6 range is now $3000 less than before but the car is now even faster to charge and better equipped than before. The updated G6 is now available to order ahead of the first deliveries later this month.

On the outside of the G6 are new styling features, including a full-length front LED light bar, new alloy wheel designs and a revised rear end. Inside, there’s a larger 15.6-inch touchscreen, a new steering wheel design with new buttons, revised front seat designs and more premium-feeling materials used throughout.

More important changes have been made under the body, with various battery and motor updates making the G6 even more competitive against rivals such as the Tesla Model Y, Zeekr 7X and BYD Sealion 7. The entry-level G6 RWD Standard Range now uses a 185kW/440Nm rear-mounted motor (down 5kW on the pre-updated model) to hit 100km/h in just under seven seconds.

But it now uses a slightly larger 68.5kWh LFP battery that for a WLTP-rated range of 480km (+45km) can be charged at up to 382kW, which is a big improvement over the pre-updated model’s 215kW peak, for a claimed 10-80 per cent charge in just 12 minutes.

Above the RWD Standard Range sits the RWD Long Range, which upgrades the battery to an 80.8kWh LFP unit that can be charged even quicker at a claimed 431kW for the same 12-minute 10-80 per cent charge time as the smaller battery in the Standard Range. The 431kW peak charging speed is the highest in Australia.

The Long Range uses a 218kW/440Nm motor (+8kW), and while its battery is smaller than before and its 525km WLTP range is 45km less, the LFP chemistry in the new battery is tougher than the NMC battery used in the pre-updated model.

New for 2026 is the G6 AWD Performance, which adds a second motor on the front axle for 358kW/660Nm outputs and a claimed 4.1-second 0-100km/h time. The Performance uses the same battery as the Long Range, but due to the extra weight of the second motor, its claimed WLTP range is less at 510km.

The G6 AWD Performance is also available as a new Black Edition, which adds black paint for the body, 20-inch wheels, badging and brake callipers.

Otherwise, available features for the G6 range include the aforementioned 15.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, 18-speaker ‘XOPERA’ audio, dual wireless phone chargers, nappa leather upholstery and heated/ventilated/massaging front seats.

Safety features include adaptive cruise control, adaptive lane guidance with active lane centring, autonomous emergency braking with forward collision warning, lane keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear collision warning, door open warning, driver attention monitoring, traffic sign recognition and a 360-degree camera with a transparent chassis view.

In the switch to factory distribution, XPeng’s factory warranty has been upgraded from five years/120,000km to seven years/unlimited km, with the eight-year/160,000km battery warranty remaining as before.
