  • Total of 889 units recalled
  • Most vehicles affected due to an incorrectly mounted electrical wire
  • Just two examples recalled for airbag sensor issue

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been recalled, with two notices put out for models built between 2018 and 2020.

Affecting a total of 889 units, 887 of those are under recall thanks to an incorrectly routed electrical wire in the engine bay, as its current position could cause damage to its insulation.

If the insulation is damaged, it could short circuit and cause a fire in the engine bay, leading to a higher risk of injury to occupants and those around it.

The second recall covers just two C-Class coupes built in 2020, again with an electrical fault, although this time it is related to the connector for the airbag crash sensor.

Mercedes says if the sensor is mounted incorrectly it could detatch itself due to vibrations while driving, resulting in the occupant restraint systems potentially not working in the event of an accident.

In both instances, affected owners have been asked to contact Mercedes-Benz to arrange an inspection and repair carried out at their preferred dealer, free of charge.

A list of VINs for the engine bay issue can be found here, while those with the sensor fault are available here.
