- 2021 C and S-Class recall affects 688 units
- Software issue may deactivate SOS calling system
- S-Class has now been affected four times
Mercedes-Benz has had to issue yet another recall relating to its SOS emergency calling function, this time affecting the C-Class and S-Class.
Impacting a total of 688 vehicles sold throughout 2021 on top of the 178 S-Classes recalled in January, 257 in October last year and 40,000 built between 2018 and 2020, the same issue persists with its eCall communication module.
The SOS system may become deactivated and unable to connect to certain networks, preventing occupants to contact emergency services in the event of a crash.

Rather than asking customers to come into its dealers to rectify the issue, Mercedes-Benz will roll out a software update over-the-air to the affected vehicles.
