The Triton has gone from ‘frumpy’ to ‘formidable’ in one fell swoop, with the 2019 Mitsubishi Triton dumping the current model’s anonymous styling for a much more aggressive look.

The under-the-skin changes are more restrained, largely limited to a new six-speed automatic in place of the old five-speed, while the 2.4-litre diesel and six-speed manual carry over. The suspension and brakes receive some modest hardware tweaks, but the layout is still the tried-and-true coil-sprung independent front and live-axle leaf-sprung rear.

We’ve already detailed what it’s like to drive ahead of its local arrival in January next year, but here’s a visual rundown on what to expect from Mitsubishi’s new load-lugger.

The in-car makeover is more restrained. There are some new panels on the centre console and centre stack, but most of the interior furniture is the same as the soon-to-be-superseded model.
