LDV’s model range is expanding again with the addition of the 2023 Mifa people mover, a rival for the Toyota Granvia and Kia Carnival.

The petrol-powered Mifa – known as the G90 in China – will be sold alongside the electric Mifa 9, with both readying for Australian release in mid-November 2022.

Pricing will be confirmed closer to the Mifa’s November release date, but the three-strong petrol-powered Mifa range could start from as low as $50K before on-road costs.

The Mifa measures almost 5.3-metres long and rides on a 3.2 metre wheelbase with space for seven or eight passengers, depending on trim.

“While it might not share the heart of its electric sibling, the Mifa 9, it does share the fundamentals of evolutionary design, passenger comfort, safety and more.

"It has advanced the people mover game significantly and we’re looking forward to redefining the segment that has, until now, been dominated by two brands”, said Dinesh Chinnappa, LDV Australia general manager.

The LDV Mifa range

Final details are not yet locked in, but the Mifa range will comprise three variants: Mode, Executive, and Luxe.

Expect the lower grade Mode and potentially Executive to offer seating for eight passengers, while the range-topping Luxe will likely get higher grade leather-upholstery, power-adjust captain’s chairs in the first and second-rows, fold-out tray tables and footrests.

Outside, the Mifa has LED daytime running lights at the front, and full-width taillights to accentuate its size.

All Mifa grades will be equipped with forward and reverse AEB, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, traffic-sign recognition and adaptive cruise control.

Inside, China market G90s have broad screens across the dashboard, a floating centre console, up to 10 screens and rear seat entertainment.

We don’t exactly know what the final Australia-spec Mifa will look like. It will have the grille of the G90 though. Pictures to better illustrate Australian-spec cars will arrive closer to the mid-November release.

Powertrain

The combustion-powered Mifa range is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder developing 160kW of power and 360Nm of torque.
