Citroen removes C3 Aircross from Australian line-up

Poor sales and a changing model range have left the Aircross out to dry

The Citroen C3 Aircross will no longer be a part of the French manufacturer's Australian line-up as the brand's local arm has decided to axe the crossover due to slow sales.

Only 127 units of the C3 Aircross have been sold in total locally, having first been introduced in 2018. Just three have been shifted from dealers this year so far – considerably less than the 28 C5 Aircross units and 57 C3s, Citroen's two remaining models in Australia.

A spokesperson for Citroen Australia told Wheels it was axing the C3 Aircross to prepare for the new C4's arrival towards the end of 2021, as well as possibly bringing the C5 X to local market.

“The Citroen C3 Aircross has been removed from the Australian line-up as we re-evaluate our range to ensure our product offering closely aligns with consumer expectations," said Citroen's spokesperson.

"We look forward to strengthening and complementing the existing Citroen range with the introduction of the Citroen C4 later this year and we continue to work closely with the factory regarding evaluating the new Citroen C5 X for local introduction.”

The C3 Aircross had only recently undergone a facelift in Europe earlier this year, but the refresh never made it Down Under – with the last 2020 model year examples of the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo currently retailing for $34,990 before on-road costs.
