Mitsubishi has announced it will compete again in a rally event under the Ralliart name, while also revealing a swag of accessories for its current line-up.

Team Mitsubishi Ralliart will compete in the 2022 Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) in August with a Triton, with two-time Dakar champion Hiroshi Masuoka appointed as team director.

At the same time, Mitsubishi in Japan has also shown off a range of Ralliart-branded parts for the Outlander, Eclipse Cross, and ASX (badged as the RVR in Japan), as well as the Delica people-mover not currently sold here.

Much like the styling package announced in November for Triton and Pajero Sport models in Thailand, the Ralliart accessories provide a sporty cosmetic touch to the cars, with subtle bodykits, mud flaps, and decals all designed to hark back to the glory days of Mitsubishi’s dominance in the World Rally Championship under the Ralliart name.

“For many years, Mitsubishi Motors competed in the World Rally Championship and the Dakar Rally, winning championships in both of them and improving the driving performance of Mitsubishi cars that can be enjoyed with peace of mind in any weather or road conditions,” Team Director Hiroshi Masuoka said.

“Mitsubishi Motors’ participation in the AXCR in the form of technical support will strengthen our product uniqueness, especially for ASEAN strategic models including pick-up trucks and SUVs. Team Mitsubishi Ralliart will make preparations to meet the expectations of our fans, so please stay tuned.”

For those who don’t have a current-shape Mitsubishi to modify, but want to support the team, the company also offers a range of clothing and other items – including a reusable face mask for ¥1980 (AU$22.60).

The carmaker announced it would revive the Ralliart name back in May 2021, eventually unveiling the Vision Ralliart Concept in January – a performance-oriented Outlander PHEV which hints at a possible upcoming production model.
