The 2023 Nissan Qashqai E-Power hybrid small SUV will arrive in Australia later this year.

In February, Nissan Australia confirmed its electrified small SUV would touch down in the second half of 2023, after it was initially destined for late 2022 and then earlier this year.

An exact date is still yet to be confirmed, but Wheels understands it will arrive closer to the end of the year, nearly 12 months after the third-generation Qashqai arrived in local showrooms.

“We're looking forward to launching the [E-Power] powertrain in Qashqai later this calendar year and we expect the demand to be strong,” said Nissan Australia managing director, Adam Paterson.

The Toyota Corolla Cross and GWM Haval Jolion rival features Nissan’s E-Power ‘series’ hybrid system, meaning the front wheels are solely powered by electric motors, with the petrol engine acting as generator to keep the battery topped up.

It has a 140kW and 330Nm total system output, up from 110kW/250Nm in the petrol Qashqai. Combined fuel economy is rated at 5.3L/100km on the stricter WLTP testing cycle.

... a smaller premium over its combustion-powered sibling is likely, at around $3000 extra...

Like the larger X-Trail E-Power, expect only the upper-trim Qashqai ST-L and Ti to be available with the hybrid powertrain, with prices ranging from around $45,000 before on-road costs for the entry variant to more than $50,000 for the flagship model.

However, as the Qashqai E-Power remains front-wheel drive, a smaller premium over its combustion-powered sibling is likely, at around $3000 extra – compared to around $4200 more for the all-wheel-drive X-Trail E-Power.

The 2023 Nissan Qashqai E-Power hybrid will arrive in Australia later this year. Final details, including pricing, will be announced closer to its launch.
