Renault has announced a pair of updates to its fully-electric Kangoo and Master commerical vans, with both set to come to Australia.

Having launched in 2017, the Kangoo ZE Zero Emissions) will now be replaced by the Kangoo E-Tech, falling in line with Renault's electric vehicle naming convention and boasting a significantly improved powertrain.

While its predecessor had to make do with an electric motor, which produced just 44kW and 225Nm, the new model now develops 90kW and 245Nm –with its 45kWh battery pack representing a 12kWh increase over the outgoing model, bumping its driving range up to 300 kilometres from 200km.

Included in the standard equipment lis is a heat pump – not only acting as a more efficient way of heating and cooling the cabin, but also adding roughly 85km of driving range, a major factor in the new model's advnatage over its predecessor.

Charging is limited to a single-phase 7.4kW AC charger (taking five hours to reach 80 per cent charge when plugged into a 7.4kW wallbox) and a 22kW DC charger – providing 50km of range in 45 minutes.

A total of 15 Master E-tech combinations will be available thanks to three different lengths, heights and weight capacities, with standard safety equipment across the range including; front and rear park assist, a rear camera, rear view assist, side wind assist, automatic lights/wipers, active emergency braking system (AEB) and lane departure warning.

Australian features and pricing will be announced closer to the launch of each model, slated for next year for the Kangoo and 2024 for the Master.
