Ford Australia is recalling examples of its popular Ranger and Everest models over an issue with their roof rack awnings.

The notice affects 287 vehicles built between 2016 and 2021.

According to the Department for Infrastructure, the mounting bolts used for the Rhino Rack Sunseeker awning may not meet manufacturing specifications and could break.

If the bolts break it could lead to the awning detaching and increasing the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders.

A list of VINs for those involved can be found here.

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Ford and can arrange with their preferred authorised dealership for a free inspection and repair if necessary.

For further information Ford can be contacted on: 1800 503 672.
