The 2019 Mercedes-Benz EQC400 has been placed under recall due to the sealing of its battery housing, potentially causing issues over the lifetime of the vehicle.

Ten of the 11 EQC400s sold in 2019 are affected by the recall, stemming from a potential for the battery's housing to deteriorate over time, allowing moisture in to the high-voltage environment.

While this could directly affect the battery by creating premature corrosion, a by-product is the increased risk of a potential electrical short – leading to the possibility of fire.
