Jaguar Land Rover Australia is recalling 22 examples of its Range Rover Evoque due to a fault with the locking mechanism in the driver’s seatbelt assembly.

The British manufacturer has issued a notice for the cars which were all made in 2021.

The fault, according to the Department for Infrastructure, relates to a manufacturing issue with the vehicle-sensitive locking mechanism in the driver seat belt assembly, which may not lock as designed when the retractor body or vehicle is decelerated or tilted.

That means, in the event of an accident or hard braking, the driver's seat belt may not operate correctly, increasing the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.

A list of VINs for affected vehicles can be found here.

Owners are advised to contact their nearest authorised JLR dealer to have their vehicle inspected and repaired, free of charge.

For more information, contact JLR Australia on 1800 652 642 or visit: https://www.landrover.com.au/national-dealer-locator.html

The same issue has also recently been identified in 37 Jaguar’s E-Pace models which are too under recall.
