- Fault may cause vehicles to overheat and catch fire
Hyundai Australia is recalling more than 2500 examples of its Tucson mid-sized SUV due to an electrical fault which may cause it to overheat and catch fire.
Vehicles from 2017 and 2018 are involved in the recall, with the issue specifically affecting the 2.0-litre diesel engine.
According to the Department for Infrastructure, which issued the notice, due to a manufacturing issue, the connector to the heater core may overheat due to a faulty electrical connection.
This may cause excess heat in the connection and could cause the vehicle to catch fire.
A list of VINs for the 2540 vehicles involved can be found here.
Owners will be contacted by Hyundai and asked to contact an authorised dealership to have the component inspected and fixed, free of charge.
Alternatively, Hyundai can be contacted on 1800 186 306.
