General Motors Australia and New Zealand has confirmed that the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is finally going on sale in Australia, with orders open from today. Sitting at the top of the local Corvette range, the Z06 is priced from $299,990 plus on-road costs, making it $36,000 less expensive than the model it replaces.

Only available through an official build-to-order program where buyers will spec their cars to their liking, the Z06 will be offered in top-spec ‘3LZ’ form, with other specs available in North America.

Under the bonnet is a naturally aspirated 5.5-litre V8 engine with an 8600rpm redline making 475kW of power and 595Nm of torque. That’s mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, while other track-focused features include adaptive dampers, six-piston front Brembo brakes, an electronic limited-slip differential and forged aluminium wheels.

Corvette Z06 customers can also choose a Z07 Performance Package to give their cars even more track ability. It adds a carbon fibre high-wing rear spoiler, carbon fibre aerodynamic components, upgraded brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, with Brembo carbon-ceramic anchors also available. Other options include carbon fibre body pieces, a carbon fibre or transparent removable roof, racing stripes and an engine appearance package.

Features for the 3LZ grade include GT2 bucket seats trimmed in Nappa leather upholstery, carbon fibre interior detailing, steering wheel and paddles, a 14-inch digital driver’s display, a 12.7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google Built-in services such as Google Maps, a head-up display and a 14-speaker Bose audio system.
