The wonderful Honda Civic Type R is once again available in Australia as its maker has announced a new 98-unit batch that’s due in local showrooms from December 2026. Pricing starts at $85,000 driveaway, which is $500 less than the last batch of cars, but it’s lost the previously standard carbon fibre rear wing spoiler. That makes it $12,400 more expensive than when this generation model first launched in 2023.
The latest batch of Civic Type Rs is under 100 units — 98 to be exact — which is much larger than the previous 18-car batch earlier this year. The 98-unit batch of Civic Type Rs is due in Australia from December 2026, potentially giving customers a nice Christmas gift to themselves.
Aside from the lack of carbon fibre rear wing, the Civic Type R remains unchanged compared to previous versions of the car. The 235kW/420Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine remains, as does the six-speed manual transmission, which is the only available transmission.

Standard features for the Civic Type R include 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive suspension, Brembo brakes, rain- and dusk-activated automatic LED headlights, rain-sensing automatic wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eight-speaker sound system and safety features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and a reversing camera.
It’s available in four no-cost colour options: the iconic ‘Championship White’, ‘Crystal Black’, ‘Sonic Gray’ and ‘Racing Blue’. Red and black suede interior trims are standard.
As with other new Honda models in Australia, the Type R is covered by a five-year/unlimited km warranty with five years of roadside assistance and the first five years of servicing costs just $995 ($199 per service).
2026 Honda Civic pricing (driveaway):
- e:HEV L: $49,900
- e:HEV LX: $55,900
- Type R: $85,000
The next batch of Honda Civic Type Rs is due in Australia in December.
