The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class has been unveiled with extensive updates throughout, including revised styling, upgraded interior finishes, new in-car technology, an extended bespoke program and a more powerful range of drivetrains. It’s confirmed for Australian sales in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Following on from the updated S-Class that was revealed in January this year, the updated Maybach version sports revised headlight and tailight designs, a larger grille, new bumpers and new alloy wheel designs up to 21-inches in size as well. 

The outside of the Maybach S-Class has also been updated with more intricate detailing. There’s a new grille that’s 20 per cent larger than before and optionally illuminated depending on market, while in selected markets as well, the upright Mercedes-Benz star and Maybach emblem on the C-pillar can also be illuminated.

Within the grille, the Maybach wordmark is also illuminated for the first time, while the ‘double-star’ headlights now receive rose gold accents. All forged wheels painted in silver now receive an upright Mercedes-Benz logo, like a Rolls-Royce, which is mounted on a ball-bearing mechanism, and automatic doors are now optionally available. 

A new ‘Nautic Blue’ colour has also joined the range, while there is also a new ‘Night Series’ design package that introduces paint finishes with hues of grey, black and white or a two-tone paint finish in black and silver combined with dark chrome accents. The package also comes with a choice of either black or white and black interior colouring. 

Inside, the Maybach S-Class receives a redesigned interior, including a new dashboard layout with Mercedes’ ‘MBUX Superscreen’ dual-screen set up with a Maybach-specific ambient style. AI-based “hey Mercedes” voice control and satellite navigation based on Google Maps with live traffic now feature as well. 

The company has also revised the available trims and that includes a new open-pore wood finish, including a new grained oak. For the first time too, a leather-free upholstery is available, alongside the also new “Mirville” textile trim, complemented by deep white piping and an exclusive open-quilted diamond-stitched graphic. 

Mercedes’ Manufaktur Made to Measure bespoke personalisation program is also available for buyers of there Maybach S-class, which opens up “virtually limitless” combinations of leather, stitching, embroidery and bespoke finishes.

The new Active Ambient Lighting, with its 199 individual LEDs, 10 colour worlds and 64 individually selectable colours provides a gentle and adaptive atmosphere. The lighting responds to voice commands, climate adjustments and even driver‑assistance cueing.

In the rear, the centre console introduces two bespoke holders, with each one precisely shaped to cradle the optional champagne flutes from Germany cutlery maker Robbe & Berking. Behind the rear armrest is a 10-litre fridge to ensure that champagne is always kept at the perfect temperature.

Under the bonnet of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class are a range of four engines globally, with Australian choices yet to be confirmed. Like the regular S-Class, the Maybach S-Class is now available with a new 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V8 in both the S 580 and S 680, while selected markets will also receive a V12 badged S 680 instead of the higher-output V8, as well as a plug-in hybrid. 

The European S 680 produces 450kW of power and 850Nm, plus 17kW/205Nm from the mild-hybrid technology that’s standard in that market, which is now on par with the V12 S 680. The S 580 uses the same V8 engine rated to 395kW/750Nm, plus 17kW/205Nm from the MHEV system, while the S 580 e with EQ Hybrid Technology uses a turbocharged six-cylinder engine combined with a plug-in hybrid system for up to around 100km of electric driving range.

To make the driving experience even more relaxing, additional insulation measures have further enhanced noise and vibration suppression. As a result, the Maybach S‑Class offers an even more refined driving experience, which is further refined by the dedicated Maybach mode within drive mode selection for the new air suspension system, engineered entirely around supreme ride comfort.

The updated Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will launch in Australia in the fourth quarter of 2026, with local pricing and specifications to be confirmed closer to then.
