If Holden is the flag bearer of the once great Australian car manufacturing industry, Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) is the crown jewel. Founded in 1987 by Tom Walkinshaw, HSV has been responsible for creating some of Australia’s most iconic performance cars such as the 1988 VL Group A SS, the 1996 VS GTS-R, and the insane W427 of 2008.

As Holden’s Australian manufacturing operations were brought to a close in 2017, HSV fittingly sent the glorious V8 Commodore off with the limited-edition 474kW GTS-R W1, the most powerful Aussie-built car.

Even though the only product that bears HSV’s name these days is the kitted-up Holden Colorado Sportscat by HSV, the company’s Clayton factory is busying themselves with right-hand drive conversion works for the Chevrolet Camaro and the Chevrolet Silverado and RAM full-sized utes.
