Audi is set to become the first manufacturer to use integrated Apple Music in its model range, announcing it will roll out the feature to its MY22 vehicles.
As opposed to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which effectively mirror the screen and applications of a smartphone onto a car’s infotainment screen, Apple Music can be accessed in full through Audi’s Multi-Media Interface (MMI) system without needing to connect an external device.
While Audi Australia hasn’t provided a timeline on when the feature will be available in its local models, Audi’s European, North American and Japanese customers can benefit from Apple Music in all new 2022 vehicles, with an over-the-air update set to be rolled out in the near future.

“Integrating Apple Music into the audio infotainment system marks the next step in the collaboration between Audi and Apple,” said Audi’s head of product marketing, Christiane Zorn.
“For our customers, it means that we are offering them direct access to their own personalised listening experience. This is our understanding of a premium digital in-car experience.
“At Audi we are systematically driving the digitalisation of the vehicle and we are convinced that the interior is increasingly developing into a third living space.”
Audi is pushing to be an industry leader for in-car entertainment, having recently announced a collaboration with holoride to implement virtual reality capabilities in some models, launching from the middle of 2022.
