Honda Australia has given some key vehicles in its range the Midas touch to celebrate half a century of presence in Australia.

The Honda Civic Type R, the NSX, as well as CBR1000RR Fireblade, CRF450L, and CRF50F motorcycles have been gold-wrapped to celebrate what is commonly known as the golden anniversary.

With the cars and bikes are two of Honda’s other well-known products, a lawn mower and power generator, which were both also wrapped with gold chrome film with clear satin laminate.

Honda Australia’s managing director and CEO, Hiroyuki Shimizu, says the local brand has gone from merely a subsidiary “to sell cars,” to a large part of Honda’s global brand which helps “make people’s lives more enjoyable.”

“We thought about how we could celebrate our birthday and our unique diversity in a bold and fun way. I mean, who has ever seen a golden mower or generator before?” Shimizu says.

“To Honda, performance means more than speed – each product is designed to perform at a level that exceeds the expectations of the customer.”

Shimizu says Honda Australia will ‘tour’ the gold cars around the country in 2019 to celebrate the anniversary, and that more announcements are to be made about anniversary celebrations or displays.

“Achieving 50 years of longevity and continuity in business is a significant milestone, but none of this would be possible without our people. Our team at Honda Australia and our dealer network across the country are exceptional at what they do and I thank them for their contribution”, says Shimizu

“Most importantly though are our customers. Honda would be nothing without our customers – both long-term customers and new customers all contribute to making this brand what it is today.”
