  • 2023 Hyundai Venue previewed
  • Australian debut likely for next year
  • Powertrain changes unclear

A refreshed 2023 Hyundai Venue has surfaced online this week ahead of its Australian debut, first in the form of new computer-generated images and again today as a pair of stylised preview sketches.

As with all teaser art, the sketched Venue benefits from perfect lighting and exaggerated proportions to show off a muscular look.

But, as a facelift to the existing Hyundai Venue, we already have a good idea of what buyers can expect – not least because images of what is likely the final design have surfaced on 3D modelling marketplace Hum 3D.

While the exact provenance of the 3D renders is still to be confirmed, we can at least say they’re a perfect match for the sketched design.

At the front end, the new-look Venue picks up a more squared-off design, seemingly inspired by the much larger Palisade SUV and, to some extent, the new mid-size Tucson.

At the rear, we see a new black-accented design to the tail lamps, now connected by either a light bar or reflective strip through the centre of the hatch.

New bumper designs also feature at both ends, along with a new wheel design.

Interior images are yet to be released, but we can likely expect a new steering wheel and possibly a larger centre display, along with the option of a digital instrument screen behind the steering wheel.

In its current form, the Venue is offered with a 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine producing 90kW and 151Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed manual at the entry end, while other variants get a six-speed automatic.

It’s unclear if we can expect any changes to the drivetrain, although we could see it pick up the 74kW/172Nm 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic that features in the related Kia Stonic.

When will the facelifted Hyundai Venue come to Australia?

You won’t get Hyundai’s local office commenting officially on the new-look Venue at this early stage, but we’d expect to see it in Australia sometime in early 2023.
