Porsche has partnered with American tech start-up company Zync to improve the infotainment systems in its cars.

Zync specialises in bringing digital entertainment services, such as video streaming, gaming and e-commerce, into vehicles, all of which, thanks to the two firms teaming up, could be found in future Porsche models.

The start-up's aim is to provide a clearer pathway for the automotive and entertainment industries to interact, making itself a central partner in the delivery of media content in vehicles.

Porsche Digital's head of company building, Christian Knörle, said the partnership with Zync will give Porsche owners access to premium content in its vehicles.

“Digital and personalisable in-vehicle solutions are becoming increasingly important for many drivers," said Knörle.

"With Zync, we’re now creating another opportunity to offer current and popular entertainment formats for this environment."

Zync believes it will be able to integrate functions such as video games and online shopping into Porsche's vehicles by 2023 – all without the need for hardware upgrades to its existing infotainment systems.
