Even faster outdoor accommodation from the makers of the 30-second tent.

The ease (or lack of) setting up and packing away a tent can totally change your camping experience, and that’s before the weather plays its hand.

To this end the Jet Tent range by Oztent is quick, easy and even relaxing. With no assembly required and with a small pack size of only 1.1m length x 0.3m depth and height in its waterproof carry bag, the Jet Tent really is hassle-free.

We tested the F25, which will comfortably sleep four adults with floor dimensions of 2.5m x 2.5m and a roof height of 2.2m, so you don’t necessarily have to go outside to stretch after a good night’s kip.

Featuring a robust external frame which utilises a quality auto lock/release mechanism (patent pending) and alloy centre hub, it’s not heavy, but should still stand the test of time.

Once out of its bag and spread in your desired position with the base pegged down, you simply raise the roof until all four corner legs lock in position.

Then all that remains is fitting the fly which is held in place by Velcro strips and has guy ropes attached in concealed built-in pockets. Then you’re all done and can start to enjoy your surroundings.

At this stage, you start to notice all the high quality inclusions, such as heavy-duty, heat-sealed PVC tub floor, waterproof rip-stop polycotton canvas with double-stitched seams, and YKK zippers on the doors.

These may be nothing new in most quality tents, but then you discover the carefully thought out design ideas, such as the zippered and gusseted window panels, which provide excellent ventilation through large, super-fine mesh windows on each side, even in wet conditions.

You’ll also find a handy power cord inlet, extra large front awning with telescopic aluminium poles, which is also zippered, so you can add to it with peaked side panels ($299) and, in conjunction with a front panel ($199), creates an additional weather- and insect-proof room.

During our test we experienced heat, rain and a good stiff breeze, yet stayed cool, dry and comfortable. Jet Tent is a truly convenient outdoor accommodation option that I will be keen to use again on my next adventure.
