Noelle saddles up the Jaguar I-Pace to see if its purported 400km-plus pure electric range is a realistic real-world figure. Is it enough to put an end to so-called range anxiety, or a fantasy that leaves her stranded on the side of the road.

Later, Dan gets behind the wheel of the muscular Hyundai i30 N to see if this hot-hatch newcomer is Golf R power for Golf GTI money and the high-performance car bargain of the decade.

In the ultimate test of strength and value, Dan then pitches the hottest Hyundai to date against not one, but eight of its closest rivals in an affordable performance car shoot out like nothing else.

Does the venerable Golf GTI reign supreme, can Honda's incredibly sharp Civic Type R steal the show or perhaps a wildcard will come out of the blue?
